Getting Ready to Book!

Happy Spring Break everyone!  I've reached out to our friends in Louveciennes, France, Sylvie and Etienne and they are looking forward to my visit from 7/11 - 7/14 with fireworks Friday evening, 7/13 to celebrate Bastille Day.

I bought boots about a month back and have been wearing them off/on when I walk Charlie - I know it's cement sidewalks for the most part. They're big - size 10! They say that's good b/c your feet swell when walking.

I got Rob's approval of my flights - except he says they're dreadfully long. I know, but I was looking for cost.  I've checked this a.m. and they've gone up!  from $1100 to $1800. - Hoping it's just a day thing - will try again tomorrow and that I've not missed the window.  Guess I'm still just ~not sure~ - Well, it's not like anyone wants to go with, (wah..) or supports it, Mark...

I'm meeting a Personal Trainer this a.m. at Millenium Fitness Ctr. And, I have a check up tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. in Kville. Love time off work. Had a great breakfast this a.m. :)

Worried whether my feet are strong/healthy enough. I've had stress fractures in each - and bunions still - don't always feel good.  I keep ignoring them - I talked with Shari Rivera, our Spanish teacher at NES. She's walked 2 sections of the Camino and says I'll be fine.  (Of course, she bikes and is very healthy - and she's Hispanic and the language is not a barrier. Can't say it will be for me so much - I am capable of making myself understood in French and Spanish, but not like a native.

Ok, enough for today. Will update as things come together. Ciao!

Books.. Boots? Questions and answers.

The children are working downtown at a coffee shop. Mark has taken the car to get new tires. Charlie has had her walk. The painter is working in the main hallway.  I'm researching information about The Way.

I've ordered a book on Amazon, Sarria to Santiago: A Guide to Walking the last 100km of the Camino Frances (2017 Edition) (MM3 Guides) (Volume 1) .

Read a feed on footwear. Boots?  Sandals?  Will have to continue to research.  Read good things about Altra Timp.

Read another feed about women alone on The Way. All good if you use common sense.

Someone wrote, something to the effect of, "It's not the destination, it's the journey." Doing the Walk in the manner that suits you. It's yours, not anyone else's.

I enjoyed this blog, http://andaluciadiary.com/sarria-to-santiago-de-compostela-my-itinerary-on-the-camino-de-santiago/ by Andrew Forbes. It has photos, links, recommendations and contact numbers.

I read about the scallop shell. Interesting - using it as an eating/drinking tool, begging. - Now it's a symbol of The Camino.

He said "No!" So, it's a "GO!"

December 26, 2017

This morning Mark gave his answer. "No." He doesn't want to travel to Europe this summer.  As I told him, "I'm absolutely fine with your answer. You don't want to and that's ok. We're different." With his answer - one I gave him ~month to decide - I am off to plan MY trip to Europe this summer!!

It will be my first solo trip, although one could argue that my very first trip to Europe with ISE, (International Student Exchange),  in the summer of 1979 was a solo one since I didn't know anyone at the beginning. - But that was a bus tour through 13 different countries. This is a walking trip over the last 100 km of the Camino de Santiago.

Here's a resource I'm looking at to plan my journey. Just click on the pic.
